Black Bear

Black Bear (Schwarzbier)

This light flavored black lager is our version of a classic schwarzbier.  Black Bear has moderate malt flavors that finish clean and sweet, and are balanced out nicely with just a hint of bitterness.  The appearance is very dark brown, with a tan-colored head.  The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium to medium-high carbonation.  Black Bear is truly a beer that will surprise the drinker.  It is overall dark, but very pleasantly sweet with no harshness that most would expect from a dark beer.

Brown Bear

Brown BearThis brown lager is an aggressively hopped version of an American brown.  Brown Bear has a roasty almost brownie like taste, although some might pick up some traces of nuts, figs, toffee, or coffee.  As for appearance, the beer has an off brown head that lingers slightly and laces nicely.  There is a note of bitterness from the hop additions, but they will be balanced out on your tongue by the maltyness.  The mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation.  Brown Bear is a unique beer, and well worth a try.  Overall it is a true American brown to its core with some Tasty hops to round it out.  This beer is available seasonally, so try it when you can.

EB Cream

In the summer, it is widely accepted to drink what has been labeled a “lawnmower” beer. These beers are typically lighter in nature, and quite refreshing on a hot summer’s day. Well, our Edwin Budding Cream (EB Cream) is our “lawnmower” beer. Edwin Budding, who hailed from Gloucestershire, England, is the man credited with inventing the lawnmower in 1830. What better way to honor the man who has helped us for nearly 200 years keeping our lawns nice and trim, than to name a beer after him. This Cream Ale has little malt and hop aroma present, but is very satisfying. The color is a hazy straw yellow with a subtle white head. EB Cream is very crisp and dry in flavor, and overall very refreshing. Look for it during the summer months to quench your thirst. Golden Pilsner

Golden Pilsner This Bohemian styled Pilsner is rich and malty.  The hop character is spicy due to the use of Czech Saaz hops.  MSB’s Golden Pilsner is not quite as bitter as its German Pilsner cousin.  This pilsner has a nice rounded taste, with a clean crisp finish.   The appearance is pale to deep gold, with a creamy white head.  This beer has won many awards, with the most prestigious being Gold at the World Beer Cup in 2010.  The Golden Pilsner is available year round at our brewery.

Honey Wheat

This American style unfiltered wheat beer is great anytime. The aroma is pleasantly grainy and sweet with a touch of honey. The appearance is pale yellow with minimal clarity. The flavor is not overpowering, and is quite quaffable. Honey Wheat has a low hop bitterness that is balanced out by the honey malt used in the mash. The mouthfeel is smooth and crisp, and has medium to high carbonation. This beer is always a refreshing treat, and is available at our brewery year round. Lactovision

Lactovision (Sour Mash Belgian-Style Dark Strong) This is our take on a classic Belgian-style Dark Strong Ale.  The mash was soured with a little help from our friend lactobacillus.  From there freeze dried tart cherries were added to the whirlpool at the end of the boil, and the yeast used is Trappist Ale Yeast.  The initial flavor is undoubtedly tart but finishes quite smooth and nutty.  The color is dark red, and the aroma is sweet with hints of oatmeal. The head is tan and laces beautifully.  Enjoy this one off, it won't be around long.

When Helles Freezes Over

Pleasant, bready, and sweet are all adjectives describing this classic German styled lager.  There is a presence of medium to low spicy hop bitterness.  The appearance of our Munich Helles is slightly darker in color than its commercial counterparts, but it boasts clarity and a creamy white head.  Helles has a medium body with medium carbonation.  This beer truly shows off Munich malt at its best.

Winter Lager

Winter Lager Modeled off of an American Wheat beer, the Winter Lager has an appearance of gold and is very cloudy.  There is a nice white head, which gracefully laces your glass as you drink this winter concoction.  The flavor is sweet, bready, and has traces of the 80+ pounds of fresh bananas that were used in the mash.  Some flavors one might experience are either banana bread or a banana smoothie.  Available in late November to early January, this Holiday Celebration beer will keep you warm and happy.
